Metro North was a proposed 16.5Km light rail metro serving Dublin Airport and the city centre. In 2018, the project was renamed MetroLink.
We were initially appointed to work on the planning of two highly complex underground stops at St Stephen’s Green and Drumcondra. Between 2007 and 2010, our role gradually expanded to include work on all underground stops, taking the project through to Reference Design for DBFM tenders.
We worked closely with the engineering team and construction consultants during concept design, producing numerous options to optimize cost, construction & technical efficiency.
The integration of railway infrastructure into Dublin’s historic urban fabric was a key challenge. We designed entrances that promoted good connectivity with trams, buses and existing rail services, while creating high-quality public spaces that enhanced the city’s urban realm.
